The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)
- The CEFR is the international standard for describing language ability
- It has six levels starting at A1 (basic) through to C2 (expert)
- It describes what learners can do at each level of learning a language
- It covers all four key language skills: reading , writing, speaking and listening
- Cambridge Assessment English has been continuously involved in the research and development of the CEFR
- Each Cambridge English Qualification targets a particular level of the CEFR and provides a clear focus for study programmes
