What is ‘show and tell’ ? Below is a video of a few show-and-tells about favourite stuffed animals.

Eligibility:

Pupils who scored

  • 13 shields or above in Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers or A2 Flyers; or
  • Pass with Merit (or Grade B) or above in A2 Key for Schools or B1 Preliminary for Schools

Grouping:

  • A1 Group: 13 shields or above in Pre A1 Starters
  • A2 Group: 13 shields or above in A1 Movers
  • B1 Group: 13 shields or above in A2 Flyers or Pass with Grade B (Merit) inA2 Key (for Schools)
  • B2 Group: Pass with Merit (or Grade B) or above in B1 Preliminary (for Schools)
Contest Details:

Contestants need to select an object about ‘Fun Cambridge English at Home’ and videotape a presentation. Length of the presentation is as follows:

  • A1 & A2 Group: 2-3 minutes
  • B1 & B2 Group: 3-5 minutes

How to submit the video:

Contestants need to film and edit the video by themselves. They must then upload the video to one of the acceptable platforms:

  1. Youtube (youtube.com)
  2. Google Drive (drive.google.com)
  3. Baidu Wangpan (pan.baidu.com)

To protect your privacy, please change the settings to ‘unlisted’ or ‘only people with the link can view’.

Assessment:

The video presentations will be assessed according to the Cambridge English speaking test assessment scales of the relevant levels. Aspects include:

  • Grammatical and Lexical Resources (20%)
  • Pronunciation and Delivery (20%)
  • Content and Organisation (30%)

The remaining 30% will be given to Creativity. A detailed version of the criteria can be downloaded here.

Contestants will receive a statement of results stating the marks they get in each aspect.

Awards:

  • Merit Presenter: contestants who score 70% or above
  • Outstanding Presenter: contestants who score 80% or above
  • Champion Presenter: top 3 contestants in each group.
  • Most Creative Presenter: contestants who score the highest in ‘creativity’ in each level

Prizes:

  • Merit Presenter: a certificate
  • Outstanding Presenter: a certificate and a trophy
  • Champion Presenter: a certificate; a trophy and GPEX HK Free Cambridge English Exam Voucher
  • Most Creative Presenter: a certificate; a trophy and GPEX HK $500 Cash Voucher

By  5:00 p.m., 29 April 2020: Contestants must fill in the registration form, in which they provide their personal particulars, link to the video presentation and payment proof.

By  5:00 p.m., 15 May 2020: Release results of the contest

By 1 June 2020: Despatch certificates, prizes and statement of results

To be confirmed:
Champion Presenters will be invited to perform in our annual Cambridge English Certificate Ceremony. They will also be invited for a short interview about their experience of preparing Cambridge English at home, which will be published together with the video presentation on our social media platforms.

Fee of joining the contest:

  • $200 per video
  • Each contestant will receive a $200 GPEX HK Cambridge English Cash Voucher

Terms & Conditions

  • The contest is only open to pupils who
    • scored 13 shields or above in Cambridge English Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers or A2 Flyers examinations; or
    • scored Pass with Merit or Pass with Grade B in Cambridge English A2 Key for Schools or B1 Preliminary for Schools.
  • Contestants are required to upload a photo / scan of their certificate when registering for the contest.
  • No late submissions will be accepted under any circumstamces.
  • All fees will not be refunded after submission of the video.
  • Each contestant can submit more than 1 video. However, they will only get 1 award for the video with the highest mark. A contestant can be awarded ‘Champion Presenter’ and ‘Most Creative Presenter’ at the same time.
  • Contestants have the responsibilities to ensure that the link submitted is valid and the video can be accessed by members of GPEX Hong Kong Central Limited. We will not contact any contestants individually if the link or file fails.
  • Videos must be the contestant’s original work.
  • Contestants retain copyright of their submitted videos. However, by entering this competition, contestants grant GPEX Central Hong Kong Limited the rights to edit, publish and use each video in any media platforms, including in print and online.
  • The judges’ decision is final.
  • For any discrepencies between the English and Chinese version of the website, the English version is final.
